What is coaching?

You’ve probably come across the term coaching before. Coaching can be traced back centuries and draws from many different areas of our world. In the 80s/90s, coaching began to be used on its own, growing from its use in sport and moving into the world of business. Today, coaching is used in a wide variety of places from schools to most companies. Coaching is a way of creating a positive environment with the time and space to allow individuals to think, feel and identify change.

How can coaching help?

I firmly believe that we are the expert in our own life, however, sometimes the perspective with which we view our life can become clouded or confused.

A coaching session is an opportunity to talk and think about yourself, what you might want, where you are now and where you want to be. What makes a coaching session special is that all the thinking and exploration you are doing is done without life's little distractions or peoples opinions. I will be with you on your journey, listening and asking questions. The questions I ask are designed to help you think further, explore topics and challenge you where necessary, they are not tests or suggestions.

How do I coach?

I would describe my coaching style as encouraging, positive and practical. I believe people are considerably more talented than they think, and it’s important to me that when we work together you believe this of yourself. Much of the change you decide upon will happen outside of our coaching sessions, and I see my role as very much holding you accountable for the actions you’ve decided upon.

I also believe in tools for life, not just for Christmas (hehehe), so I will clearly explain every coaching tool we use, why we are using it, and how it will help us today, but also spend the time to explain potential future applications. Our sessions together will not only help you with where you are now, but also in the future.

You can buy sessions when you like - I don’t hold you to block bookings, although those are available with a discount. Change takes time and consistency; this looks different for each person.

Each session is 60 minutes and can happen face to face or online.
